Massage

Massage is a very popular complementary therapy treatment used in rehabilitation programmes. Massage is made up of different physical techniques. All have a different purpose with their own aims and goals. Some aim to reduce tension and increase relaxation; whereas others help to increase blood flow to a particular area to remove toxins and promote healing.

Sports and obedience dogs will benefit from massage because it reduces the risk of injury. It also increases flexibility and stride length which will help them to perform better during events and get quicker times. Whereas senior dogs or arthritic dogs will benefit from massage because it helps to reduce pain, removes toxins and helps with repair.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Massage sessions last approximately up to an hour, however, sometimes this may run over as we want to ensure you and your dog gets the most out of each appointment.

Please click on the tabs below to find out more about what happens prior and during your dog's first appointment:

We will contact your vet to request a referral prior to your dog's first appointment. As we work alongside your vets, they will be updated on our assessment findings, treatment and how well your dog responds to massage therapy. This ensures we are doing the best for your dog and continuity of care.
